Kevin Sharkey Wrote a Biographical Book.
“It’s The Devil Himself” is a remarkable true story of what happened to a small adopted black child, cast adrift in a small town in rural Ireland in 1961. Kevin, the child, is the main character, who has to negotiate the worst possible abuses: physical, mental and also racial, while trying desperately to fit in with his surroundings.
Kevin’s adopted mother, Kitty, looms large in this story as the main instigator of his mistreatment; however, the boy never stopped loving his mother.
All proceeds and royalties from this book will go to survivors of the Mother and Baby Homes in Ireland.
